Israeli forces attacked senior Hamas officials in Doha on Tuesday, Euronews confirmed through official and eyewitness reports.
The Israeli government declared the strike an independent operation under the name Summit of Fire.
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office stated, “Israel initiated it, Israel conducted it, and Israel takes full responsibility.”
Conflicting Reports on Casualties
Initial reports suggested Hamas Political Bureau members were killed or missing, but Qatar reported no confirmed deaths yet.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry confirmed the strike damaged residential buildings housing Hamas leaders.
Officials condemned the action as “reckless Israeli behaviour” and said investigations were under way at the highest level.
Explosions Shake Katara District
Witnesses described multiple blasts and heavy smoke over Doha’s Katara district after Israeli air force strikes.
The US Embassy ordered staff to shelter in place, and Qatari forces mobilized following the attack.
This marks Qatar’s second direct strike this year after Iran’s missile attack on Al Udeid base in June.
Hamas leadership continues to reside abroad, including Ismail Haniyeh, assassinated in Tehran in July 2024.
